Background
World Belly Dance Day (WBDD) was inspired by the creator of WBDD website (www.worldbellydanceday.com) to educate people about Belly Dancing and also a charity event, if possible. It is a calling to all belly dancers worldwide to mark the 2nd Saturday in May every year as a special day to celebrate the beauty of the dance and to help others in need. The Zero is delighted with this idea and would love to share this passion of belly dancing with Malaysian belly dancers.
The Purpose
- To promote authentic belly dancing - to educate people on authentic belly dancing through workshops and stage performances
- To clear the misconception of belly dancing - to clarify to the people that belly dancing is not a dance of seduction and entertainment for men but a dance that celebrates the beauty of life, love and femininity
- To encourage team-work - to gather strength and co-operations from Malaysian belly dancers from different states to work together for the beauty of the dance and at the same time, contribute to charity
- To cultivate the spirit of belly dancing - The Zero believes that the spirit of belly dancing include limitless sharing, eagerness to learn, humble, harmony, peaceful, gentle yet powerful, passionate, respectful, soulful, sacred, gracious and open-minded
- To provide for the underprivileged - we hope that through this event, we are reminded of who we are and be appreciative of what we have and practice compassion towards others that are not as fortunate as us.
