Breakdance
Breakdance, breaking, b-boying or b-girling is a street dance style that evolved as part of the hip hop movement in African American and Latin American youths in early 1970s. Breakdancing is unstructured and highly improvisational, allowing incorporation of many different styles and elements. It includes routines such as toprock, downrock, power moves, spinning, climatic freeze or suicide.
In the 1980's, other funk dance styles that originally evolved separately from breakdance, such as popping and locking, have started to be incorporated with the hip hop culture as well.
Today, breakdancing culture is a remarkable discipline somewhere in-between those of dancers and athletes. Since its acceptance, breakdancing is free from common race, gender and age boundaries.
